If you move to another state in the United States, what are you going to do with your bank accounts?

If you move to a state where they don’t have your bank, what are you going to do with the money that you have at your bank where you used to live. How are you going to keep up with your accounts, make deposits.

For example, you live in Chicago, Illinois, and move to Las Vegas, Nevada. But they don’t have the same bank in Las Vegas, Nevada, that is in Chicago, Illinois. What are you going to do, how are you going to use the ATM’s.

Where do you bank at?

Find a bank that is in your new state and deposit your money in that bank and close your old bank account. If you get lucky the bank might have branches in several states so you may not have to change accounts.

why don’t you close out the account? duh! take the money to your new bank! and i don’t think people would like to tell you were they bank at!

I use credit unions; they charge lower rates when borrowing, pay higher rates when making deposits and are otherwise just better.
I don’t use ATMs; not a good use of money.
As to what to do when moving, there are several approaches. Me, I have kept my accounts at the one credit union since 1981, while stationed in Germany, California, got out, went to Florida and several other states. This is inconvenient if you use ATM’s frequently or use checks all the time. Since the net is here, it is seldom even an inconvenience.
Or, you can move, find a suitable financial institute, open an account, then have your accounts transferred. Many financial institutes will charge a fee when you close accounts.

Close the account to your old bank and open a new account in your new town. You can use different bank atm’s to access your money, you just have to pay atm fees.

after you move, go to the bank you want to use and tell them to transfer your funds. you have to give them a check from your old bank. they will electronically transfer the money for you. ask at your present bank if they have branches where you plan to move. you might not have to open a new account at another bank.
